Of the various Wii Remote charging solutions I’ve encountered, this is easily one of the more elegant and effective.

The charger, itself, is very sleek and attractive — heavily influenced, it would seem, by Apple’s minimalist design aesthetic.

Set-up is a breeze: replace the Wii Remote’s alkaline batteries with the included combination battery cover/battery pack, plug in the AC adapter, connect the adapter to the charger, and place the Wii Remote (with or without a Wii Remote Jacket or Wii MotionPlus module) on the panel.

LED indicators glow red when charging is in progress and green when charging is complete. In my experience, depleted batteries will reach full charge within three to four hours, and a full charge will power a Wii Remote for at least six to eight hours of game play, depending on use.

There are a lot of things to like about this charger, but, for me, three stand out:

(1) This charger is fully compatible with Wii Remote Jackets and Wii MotionPlus modules, so, if you use either of these, there’s no need to remove them for charging with this system. Not all of the charging systems out there work with these accessories attached; the fact that this one does really ups its convenience factor.

(2) This system features regulated “trickle charging,” which eliminates concerns about overcharging the batteries; you can leave the Wii Remotes on the charger whenever they’re not in use, even for extended periods of time, without risking damage to the batteries. This means your remotes are always ready to go whenever you’re ready to play.

(3) This system’s horizontal flat-panel design allows for placement of the charger in confined spaces, unlike some of the cradle-style charging systems on the market, which take up a fair amount of vertical space.

There’s not much to criticize about this charger save for two small issues:

(1) This charger can accommodate only two Wii Remotes at a time; if you have three or four remotes, this might not be the right charger for you. Energizer makes a 4X flat-panel induction charger for Wii Remotes, but it costs considerably more, and it has a much wider footprint, meaning it might not fit as neatly in cramped spaces

(2) If the remotes aren’t precisely positioned on the panel, they won’t charge. Built-in magnets help hold naked remotes in place during charging, but, if your remotes are wearing silicone jackets, the magnets won’t help, and you’ll have to be extra careful about getting the alignment just right and making sure the charging indicators are lit.

These are very minor concerns, though, about an otherwise outstanding product. Highly recommended!

I’ve tried other rechargeable battery inserts to no avail. This one is great! It’s easy to use and I’ve never had the batteries run out during game play yet. Also, unlike other flat panel induction chargers, there are no weird clips or attachments to put onto the remote while it’s charging – you just drop the controller off and walk away.

It’s perfect. Well worth the price.

I just picked up this charger last night and I will update this review later but I did want to mention one thing. I have found out through reading reviews that several other induction chargers will not charge the black wii remotes with the black silicone sleeve on. Supposedly because it is to thick. THIS CHARGE DOES CHARGE THE BLACK WII REMOTES WITH THE BLACK SILICON COVERS ON!!! I set the controllers to charge overnight so I am not sure if the black and white controllers charge just as fast or what but I will update this review after a while of use. I just wanted people out there with black wii remotes to know that this will work for them. The only catch is the battery cover is white but that doesn’t matter if you put your black sleeve back on. Other than that the charger seems great. It glows red when its charging and green when its done. Simple.

This is a great product. It includes 2 sets of rechargeable batteries and I’ve seen them sold separately at my local electronics superstore. I have no issues lining up the remote to make it charge. If you look at the panel closely, you can see an outline of how to position the remote, or you could just look at the pictures on the box. Just plug in the block charger, connect to the panel and you’re set. The power cord is about 4 feet long. Another cool feature is a sync button extender on the battery cover so you don’t need to remove it to sync the wiimote to your wii. The button is recessed so there is little possibility of accidentally hitting it. Like someone else said, a set of AA batteries lasts longer. I believe it’s quite a bit longer but I’m willing to sacrifice some battery life for convenience. You can always put in a set of regular batteries if you’re caught between charges. The rechargeable battery and cover are 1-piece so keep the standard cover around. NOTE: You cannot charge the batteries outside of the wiimote on this panel. I tried and the red charge light ends up blinking indicating a problem. Makes sense to me but it was wishful thinking. At any rate, I highly recommend this product.

I bought the Energizer induction charger after two years of using a Nyko standup charger. The Nyko charger was alright. It was difficult to get the contacts on the batteries to work properly and I always had to take my Wii remotes out of their sleeves. That wasn’t a problem until the MotionPlus came along – prior to that point I didn’t use the rubber sleeves.

Well, one of the Nyko batteries kicked the bucket and I saw this charger. It was the cheapest induction charger I found but with a good name behind it. It’s been fantastic. I just keep the sleeves on at all times now because the charger works quite well going through them. I’ve not had any problems getting the charger to recognize the remotes. I just sit them on top and the red light comes on, indicating that it is charging. There’s also an imprint of a Wii remote on each side so you can see where the ideal position is for the remote.

My experience is that these batteries also last longer than the Nyko ones did, so that’s a plus. But it’s so easy just to set the remote down on the charger after playing to keep it fresh.

Highly recommended.
